Immature Stages of Stizinae

Detailed information on immature stages of Sphecidae (Stizinae) is being acquired.  However, Clausen (1940) noted that the egg is deposited at one side of the venter of the host=s thorax.  Hatching occurs in 2-3 days, and larval feeding is completed in one week.  The cocoon is spun in the cell in the soil and is distinguished by the possession of 2 irregular rows of Apores at one side which are thought to serve for ventilation.
